JR had his first game at the optimist youth football fields Saturday morning at 8:30am. He was excited, and ready for some hitting. The other team demolished them, and it wasn’t even close. Every time JR got the ball, he was immediately tackled by the other team. He did break a few runs for for a couple of yards and almost a first down, but his team did not even get a first down. We broke down the footage, and there wasn’t anybody blocking. JR had a tone of tackles on defense (he is number 12 same number as me when I was in little league football) and he hurt his knee in the last few minutes of the game. It was a good experience for the kids, and it let them know that they have lots to work on. It will be an interesting practice this week. He still had fun, even thought they got their buts kicked.

JR had his first little Scrimmage in pads on the Boise State Blue this past weekend. He was suffering from a terrible bug for the last 2 days. I told him that he should just get pictures and not play.. but he played anyway. He wasn’t himself but he said that he couldn’t give up the chance to play on the blue field. His team did a lot better than expected, but still lots to work on. I used some NFL films audio for the effects.. take a look for yourself.

Hi everybody, some of you know that little JR is in Optimist football this year and it’s his first year in pads. He is so excited, and is doing very well. Optimist football has a fundraiser every year, and it’s the “Two for One” card that some of you have seen in the past. It’s funny because not all the deals are two for one.. but I guess they started out that way.
The money raised from this project will be used to offset the expenses such as field maintenance, uniforms, and equipment, training, referees, etc! Every participant should sell 20 cards. Please help JR get is goal today.

The boyz wanted to do some strength and conditioning so they can be ready for football. We went out to the Lake Hazel football field behind our house and I worked them hard. You have to see Raymond and Owen do some of the drills, it is so funny. Luckily the sprinklers were on to cool them off. Good times!

Richie Brockel stopped by the Bishop Kelly Football camp and spoke to the youth. He is currently practicing with the Chargers.
